Kokomo Girls Basketball Christmas Tournament Recap The Kokomo Lady Kats traveled to DeKalb for a three-game Christmas tournament on Friday and Saturday, finishing the weekend 1–2 against strong competition. On Friday, Kokomo opened play against (10–5) Chesterton. Chesterton’s defensive pressure and size proved to be the difference, as the Lady Kats struggled to find consistent rhythm offensively. Kokomo responded well in the second game of the day with an impressive team win over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. The Lady Kats played unselfish basketball, placing four players in double figures and forcing 13 steals to fuel transition offense and control the tempo. On Saturday, Kokomo faced a talented and experienced Fort Wayne Carroll squad. Carroll’s post presence and hot shooting in the second quarter created a halftime deficit that Kokomo could not overcome. Despite the final result, the Lady Kats showed resilience, winning two of the four quarters and putting together a strong second half effort. Jhordyn Brown led Kokomo throughout the tournament with 39 total points, while Eliana Stewart added 29 points. Both were aggressive in the paint and on the defensive end, creating scoring opportunities in transition. Amara Stroman led the Lady Kats from beyond the arc, shooting 36% from three, while Satyra Scott contributed 25 points across three games along with 10 assists and a strong defensive presence. Akiera Huntsman anchored the effort on the boards, leading the team with 19 rebounds. This tournament highlighted both areas for growth and building blocks as we head into 2026 and prepare for sectional play. Kokomo returns to action on January 6 at (13–2) Alexandria-Monroe and January 7 at Northwestern. GO KATS. — Coach Haley Peckinpaugh
