The Kokomo Lady Kats turned in a strong showing at WRESTLEMANIA 2, a massive Indiana High School Girls Wrestling meet that brought together four conferences and 29 schools from across the state, including the North Central Conference, Hoosier Conference, Hoosier Heartland Conference, and Mid-West Conference. Competing against one of the deepest fields of the season, the Lady Kats proved they can stand toe-to-toe with top programs from multiple conferences. The tournament was highlighted by conference champions Spencer Martin (110 lbs) and Makyila Rubush (125 lbs), who both claimed 1st place finishes. Their runs showcased consistency, toughness, and the ability to finish matches when it mattered most. Depth across the middle weights played a major role in Kokomo’s success. Nevaeh Wilson (120 lbs), Addison Cline (130 lbs), and Ja’Layia Williams (135 lbs) each battled their way to 3rd place finishes. Myla Duke (155 lbs) and Berklee Stump (170 lbs) also placed 6th, continuing to show growth against tough opposition. Sydney Sease (235 lbs) rounded out the placers with a solid 4th place finish, providing valuable points in the upper weights. Six wrestlers earned North Central Conference Champion honors, Spencer Martin, Nevaeh Wilson, Makyila Rubush, Addi Cline, Ja’Layia Williams and Sydney Sease. As the season continues, the Lady Kats are clearly trending in the right direction, gaining confidence and momentum against elite competition. WRESTLEMANIA 2 was another step forward for a program that continues to prove it belongs among Indiana’s best. “Outstanding Performance, we came out aggressive and thats what it takes. Still some areas to keep fine tuning but our confidence and conditioning is on point. Now we have to repeat this January 2 for the IHSAA Hamilton Hieghts Sectional.” Coach Bough GO KATS GO
