The Kokomo Lady Kats earned a huge conference win heading into the Christmas break, knocking off Marion 56–53 and handing the Giants their first conference loss of the season. Kokomo came out on fire, jumping to a 13–3 lead early behind energy and aggressive play on both ends. Marion responded and settled in, trimming the deficit to just two points by the end of the first quarter. From there, it was a hard-fought battle all night. The difference came from Kokomo’s relentless defensive pressure. The Lady Kats forced 19 Marion turnovers and converted them into 17 points, setting the tone with effort and toughness. Offensively, Kokomo played unselfish basketball, finishing with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio (13 assists, 12 turnovers) and consistently making the extra pass. Satyra Scott led the way with 14 points and 4 assists. Eliana Stewart contributed 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Amara Stroman added 11 points and 4 assists. Akiera Huntsman provided a strong presence inside with 7 points and 7 rebounds. Freshmen Ziyae Tyler and Taniyah Jones delivered valuable minutes, making key defensive plays and battling on the boards. Jhordyn Brown had her first game back after being injured and made a difference with aggressiveness offensively and offensive rebounding. This was a complete team win and a great way for the Lady Kats to build momentum heading into the Christmas Tournament at DeKalb on December 26–27. Go Kats! -coach Haley Peckinpaugh
