The Lady Kats slayed the Marion Giants 7-1 on senior night. The team came to play on a hot night for the seniors and got various new players stuffing the stat sheet! It was an emotional evening as our team paid tribute to a special group of 8 seniors. Many friends and family attended to celebrate the seniors; Keira Andrysiak, Lyrik Barbour, Ellen Callane, Maddie Carpenter, Indira Faison, Analis Fuentes, Darriuna Kirby, and Riley Rudolph. This is an exceptional group of players who are outstanding leaders on and off the field. Marion has improved from last year, but our Lady Kats jumped out early and kept the pressure on for a convincing victory. Analis Fuentes started the evening off hot, scoring in the first 5 minutes of play. This score set the tone for the entire game. Kiera Andrysiak had an impressive two goals with an assist by Ellen Callane. Ellen was hungry to get the ball in the net with two goals. Nancy Laughner played an impressive game with one goal and stellar defense. Iris Brehm was strong in the middle, and had a fantastic goal from the top of the 18. The goals were fun, but the best part of the night was playing every single girl who was eligible and the excitement the girls had for each other's success. Our star goalkeeper, Maddie Carpenter, played some minutes on the field while Freshman goalkeeper, Emily Figueroa, had her first save ever. This is a special group of girls who are learning what it means to truly play for each other. We celebrate tonight, but we are ready to get back to work and reach more of our team goals. The Lady Kats travel to Northwestern on Thursday for a doubleheader with the boy's team. Let's Go Kats!
