On Saturday morning the Wildkats raced in the Jacob Graf Invite at Logansport and placed 11th out of 20 teams in the race. The Wildkats took advantage of the good weather and raced well in the first 5k of the season. Cooper Cage led the Kats as he took 7th place overall with a time of 17:16. Cooper executed a good race and competed well in his first ever cross-country race. Teammates Kelton Serra and Connor Frederick came in next, as they ran a 19:10 & 19:18 respectively. For Connor this was a 50 second PR for him on this course, so that was a big accomplishment for him. Rounding out the varsity runners were Gabe Newland, Preston Arreola, & Braxton Frederick. These guys did a solid job in the first race of the season and now we look at ways to keep improving. In the JV race Ethan Lytle and Adam Kemper had nice races and competed well against tough competition. The Kats are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Wea Ridge Middle School to race in the hilly McCutcheon Maverick Stampede. Wish the Kats luck this weekend! Go Kats! Coach Ousley
