The Lady Wildkats raced on Saturday morning in the Jacob Graf Invite at Logansport High School. It was a great morning to race and the Wildkats all ran well. Out of 5 runners 4 had never ran a cross-country 5k, so it was a morning of firsts for the group. Sophomore Gretchen Riggle was the first runner in for the Kats as she ran a 26:55. Teammates Morgan Rakestraw & Christina Durham were next in as they ran a 27:20 & 28:04 respectively. All three girls did a nice job in the varsity race and for the first race of the season I am happy with how they ran. In the JV rave sophomore Leo de Bettignies ran a 29:04 & sophomore Maddie Armstrong ran a 36:14. The two ladies have also never ran before, so getting their first 5k under their belt was a big accomplishment for themselves. I am excited for where our girls program is at right now and I am excited to see how these girls continue to improve this season. Our next race is Saturday morning as we participate in the hilly Maverick Stampeded hosted by McCutcheon High School. Go KATS! Coach Ousley
