Kokomo High School Girls Soccer VS Harrison

The Lady Kats fell to Harrison 0-5 at home on Saturday. It was 0-3 at halftime. It's hard to rally against a good disciplined team from Lafayette. Harrison played a more poised and controlled game keeping the lady Kats on their heels. With that said, the Lady Kats still had plenty of defensive and goalkeeper stats which shows grit. Maddie Carpenter had 26 saves and the back line fought through some bumps and bruises. Darriuna Kirby, Elaina Gibson, Nancy Laughner, and Lyrik Barbour showed great effort on defense, putting pressure on a very talented Harrison offense. Nevaeh Wilson and Lilly Taskey stepped up again with great play off the bench. We had to play some girls in brand new positions and everyone was eager to play wherever was needed. This shows they are learning to play for each other, which is an important lesson to learn. The Lady Kats are continuing to work on possessing the ball in the midfield and front line and attacking together. Ellen Callane, Layla Brehm, Iris Brehm, Gisella Herrera, Indiria Faison, and Analis Fuentes played with a lot of heart and hustle, and will continue to work on playing together and increasing our attack. All in all, we are very proud of this team. The growth from last year to this season is tremendous. Last year, we lost to this team 0-11 on a Mercy Rule. It is never fun to lose, but we are choosing to focus on what we did well and get back to work on what we need to improve upon. These are some of the hardest working girls you will find, and we are still learning to gel together against competitive teams. We will be back at it Tuesday at home as we honor our seniors on Senior Night and then we travel to Northwestern Thursday night. The best is yet to come, Let’s Go Lady Kats!
